The 2023 Honda City facelift has been launched at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom. It gets a mid-life upgrade that makes it safe as Fort Knox with a new set of safety features along with mechanical and cosmetic enhancements.
-
The Honda City is the first sedan in the affordable range to come equipped with Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS). Save for the base trim, Honda is offering ADAS in all the variants of the City, including manual transmission ones.
-
Honda’s ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lead car departure notification, road departure mitigation system and auto high-beam. There’s also a new low-speed follow function in the City e:HEV.
-
Apart from the Honda Sensing technology, the City gets other safety features like 6 airbags, a lane-watch camera, an improved rear parking camera, new rain-sensing wipers, Hill Start Assist, ABS with EBD, TPMS, etc.
-
Keeping in mind that the City’s received a mid-life facelift, it gets minor design tweaks. The company is offering it in six colour schemes: Obsidian Blue Pearl (new), Radiant Red, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic.
-
The new Honda City’s cabin gets limited tweaks, but the most important ones are the updated 8-inch infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger and ambient lights tucked in the cabin door handles and front door pockets.
-
Mechanically, the new City remains unchanged but is now RDE compliant and can run on E20 fuel as well. Also, the diesel mill has been discontinued. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and the City e:HEV gets the 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol hybrid unit that comes coupled with two electric motors.
-
The 2023 Honda City facelift is priced from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh while the City e:HEV is priced from Rs 18.89 lakh to Rs 20.39 lakh, ex-showroom. It will rival the new-generation Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
-
Is the legendary Honda City still the sedan to beat? In our opinion, yes! It might not be the most powerful or the sultan of handling, but it does more than enough to keep a smile on your face. Also, the City is currently India’s most affordable car to be equipped with ADAS.
