Suzuki launched the all-new Gixxer SF 250 in the country this year after a prolonged wait and anticipation of Suzuki finally entering the quarter-litre segment in India. Now that it has, it is competing with the likes of Yamaha Fazer 25, which is more affordable but then the Gixxer is more powerful. If you are looking for fully-faired performance, here are five reasons why the Gixxer SF 250 is all the worth considering.

Design: The Gixxer SF series is meant to take after the GSX-R series of big bikes in Suzuki's lineup. But the good thing is that it does not literally, like the Intruder does. It takes after its elder siblings but in a very subtle way – you can see some of the big GSX-R in its nose and some of Burgman as well. The motorcycle delivers on the sports-bike appeal that it promised. Point is: It looks great. [Specs: LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, fully digital instrument cluster]

Lightweight: The Gixxer SF 250 is lightweight and very easy to handle. The seat height isn't very tall and the rider geometry allows ease of maneuverability. The Gixxer SF 250 makes for a great package for young riders interested in knee downs and committed riding. [Seat height 800 mm, ground clearance 165 mm, kerb weight 161 kg]

Engine refinement: The 2019 Gixxer SF 250's single-pot engine is rather a refined one with minimal vibrations and doesn't feel under a lot of stress on high speeds either. The engine has Suzuki's SOCS oil-cooling tech which the manufacturer says helps is weight reduction of the engine block and hence the motorcycle while also allowing a higher RPM count. [Specs: Engine 249cc 4-Stroke, 1-Cylinder, oil-cooled, Power 26.5 hp @ 9000rpm, Torque 22.6 Nm @ 7500rpm, Fuel-injected, 6-speed transmission]

Top speed & fuel efficiency: The Gixxer SF 250 is capable of top speeds of up to 155 km/h which is a mighty good number for a single-cylinder quarter-litre. Despite a comparatively higher revving engine, Suzuki claims fuel economy of 38.5 kmpl thanks to the SOCS cooling system, which it says improves engine performance and efficiency. It will deliver a combined fuel efficiency of about 32-35 kmpl with city and highway riding combined. [Specs: Fuel tank capacity 12 litres]

Handling & comfort: This is the best part about the Gixxer SF 250 – it delivers on sporty handling while ensuring comfort for the rider. The dimensions, design and sculpting on the fuel tank ensure a committed stance if needed. The tyres have ample grip and are rounded for effortless cornering. The suspension set up is on the softer side of the spectrum which combined with a large well-cushioned seat and a relaxed riding posture guarantee comfort. [Specs: Suspension (front) Telescopic, Coil spring, Oil damped, (rear)Swing Arm Type, Mono Suspension, Tyres (front) 110/70R - 17 M/C - radial tubeless, (rear) 150/60R - 17 M/C - radial tubeless]
