American electric vehicle giant Tesla is ramping up its footprint in India with plans to open its fourth showroom in Bengaluru, which is also regarded as the country’s technology hub. The announcement, made via an official post on X (formerly Twitter) by Tesla India, reads, “See you soon in Namma Bengaluru,” signalling an imminent launch in the coming weeks.
Tesla’s move to open a new dealership follows the recent openings of experience centres in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Delhi’s Aerocity, and an integrated facility in Gurugram that combines sales, service, deliveries, and charging infrastructure. Bengaluru’s addition marks Tesla’s first foray into South India and targets the city’s vibrant ecosystem of tech professionals, startups, high-net-worth individuals, and growing EV enthusiasts, supported by state policies promoting clean mobility.
Here is everything you need to know about the Tesla dealership opening in Bengaluru.
Tesla expanding to Bengaluru, to focus on Model Y
The Bengaluru touchpoint is expected to include four Supercharger stations, mirroring the setup at existing locations in Mumbai and Delhi. These Version 4 Superchargers deliver up to 250 kW charging speeds, with the potential to open access to non-Tesla EVs in the future. Tesla has also been expanding its charging network, including a dedicated station in Gurugram with four Superchargers and three Destination Chargers (up to 11 kW).
Tesla currently offers only the Model Y in India, available in two rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variants: a standard version with a 60 kWh battery (claimed range of 500 km) priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and a long-range variant with a 75 kWh battery (claimed range of 622 km) at up to Rs 67.89 lakh. Full self-driving capability is available as an optional upgrade for an additional Rs 6 lakh, though rollout awaits clearer regulations on autonomous vehicles in India.
Tesla’s Supercharging technology enables rapid charging, adding significant range in minutes and alleviating range anxiety for long-distance travel.
Tesla’s Indian journey so far
Tesla entered the Indian market in 2025 with imported vehicles, facing high import duties that keep prices in the premium segment. Despite global sales challenges, the company is doubling down on India through retail expansion and infrastructure development, while continuing to evaluate long-term plans for local manufacturing or assembly to potentially reduce costs.
The Bengaluru showroom is seen as a strategic step to build brand awareness, facilitate test drives, bookings, and customer engagement in one of India’s fastest-growing EV markets. As Tesla’s presence grows, it positions the brand to capitalise on rising demand for sustainable mobility in urban centres like Bengaluru.
