Tata Motors will launch its sub-compact SUV Nexon with the manual transmission by the festive season this year. According to some media reports, the company will bring the AMT(automated manual transmission) version of the Nexon by the end of this ongoing financial year. The company launched the AMT gearbox on its hatchback Tiago earlier this year and its sub-compact sedan Tata Tigor is yet to get an AMT gearbox. In an email response, a Tata Motors spokesperson said that "there are no fixed timelines for AMT on Tata Nexon at the moment. The market will decide and we will take a call accordingly." The production version of the Tata Nexon was showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and a new 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine. Both the engine blocks are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2-litre Revotron engine produces 108 hp of power and 170Nm of torque, while 1.5-litre Revotorq engine generates 108 hp of power and 260Nm of torque. Tata Nexon is the fourth product from the company's IMPACT design language and features projector headlamps with LED DRL's, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome 'Humanity line' front grille and alloy wheels. At the rear, the Nexon gets LED tail lamps and rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, the Nexon hosts a 6.5-inch touch-screen infotainment system by Harman and supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, it gets reverse parking sensors, automatic climate control and steering mounted control. The sub compact SUV gets three driving modes- Eco, Sport and City, which is first in its segment.

In terms of safety, the Nexon gets front dual airbags, ABS with EBD as a standard fitment right from base-variant. It is expected that the Nexon will be launched in the price range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which misses out the AMT transmission.
