Xiaomi SU7 EV to be unveiled in India tomorrow

The Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle accelerates to 100 kmph in under three seconds and boasts a range of 800 kilometres.

Xiaomi created quite a ripple when it launched its electric vehicle the SU7 earlier this year. The SU7 will now be showcased in India on July 9. The Chinese company has not yet revealed any launch plans for India. Based on the price launched in China, the SU7 starts from around $30,000 (roughly Rs 25 lakh) and is expected to take on the BYD Seal. 

Here’s what to expect from the Xiaomi SU7.

Xiaomi SU7: Performance

The Xiaomi SU7 is available in two versions — the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. The former is powered by 400-volt electrical architecture with a rear-mounted HyperEngine V6 super electric motor producing 295 bhp (220 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. According to Xiaomi, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.28 seconds.

The all-powerful all-wheel-drive version is based on a more powerful 800-volt architecture and comes with a dual electric motor which pumps out an insane output of 664 bhp (495 kW) and 838 Nm of torque. According to the company, the dual motor trim does 0-100 kmph in 2.78 seconds rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Ferraris of the world. It has a top speed of 265 kmph.

The SU7 comes in three variants — SU7 standard, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max.

Xiaomi SU7: Battery and Range

The SU7 offers two battery pack options — the entry-level gets a 73.6 kWh battery with a 535 km range, according to the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle). The top-of-the-line version boasts a 101 kWh battery with a claimed range of 800 km range, based on the CLTC. Xiaomi has further revealed that the company will introduce bigger 132 kWh and 150 kWh batteries in the future with greater range.

As the Xiaomi EV is based on the state-of-the-art 486V and 871V architectures, the SU7 offers fast charging options and can juice up respectively batteries to 350 km and 510 km within 15 minutes of charging.

Xiaomi SU7: Technology

The Xiaomi SU7 is packed with cutting-edge technology, including Xiaomi Pilot, which is available in Pro and Max variants. With a combination of one LiDAR, 11 HD cameras, and the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin computing platform, the SU7 has a Pilot autonomous driving feature that can be activated for highway driving, self-parking and car summoning. 

The cabin is equipped with a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 56-inch HUD head-up display, a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, and two mounts for tablet devices for rear passengers. With the CarIoT Ecosystem, the SU7 can sync with over 1000 Xiaomi smart home devices. Based on the location of the SU7, appliances like air conditioners or lights will automatically switch on.
