New Jaguar XF Sportbrake has been revealed by world tennis number one Andy Murray. Two-time Wimbledon champion took the wraps off the new estate XF Sportbrake before placing his trophy in the car and sending it on a tour across the UK to inspire the new generation of players. The premium estate car was unveiled at a replica Centre Court as Jaguar is the Official Car Partner of The Wimbledon Championships.
Jaguar is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the XF first going into production with the unveiling of the XF Sportbrake. The new model has been given a range of upgrades in comparison to the XF saloon, including two Ingenium petrol engines producing 197 hp and 247 hp, along with convenience and safety features. Earlier this year Jaguar Land Rover’s latest Ingenium engines were introduced to deliver improved efficiency, lower running costs and enhanced performance.
It gets self-levelling rear suspension and a practical 565-litre load space, and Jaguar say the car will deliver sports car-derived handling. Also read: Ten key moments of XF over the decade
Other innovative features include gesture-controlled sunblind for the Sportbrake's full-length, panoramic roof, Driver Condition Monitoring to detect signs of tiredness and a waterproof Activity Key you can wear while playing a sport. Customers can also specify Cabin Air Ionisation, which purifies air to provide protection against environmental pollution.
"Letting go of the trophy will be difficult, but there's no better vehicle than the Jaguar XF Sportbrake to take it on this UK tour. I'm pleased that people are going to be able to get up close to the trophy when it visits schools and tennis clubs, and hopefully it might encourage people to pick up a racket this Summer,” Andy Murray said before the start of the UK-wide tour of the Sportbrake.
The XF is manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover's Castle Bromwich Plant alongside the XE, XJ and F-TYPE model lines. In India, the XF is available in five trims with prices starting at Rs 47.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
