German carmaker, Volkswagen Middle East has released an official youtube video of a race. Titled 'The Chase', a face-off happens between the Volkwagen Golf GTI Clubsport and a peregrine falcon. You read that right, the fastest bird goes up against the German hot hatchback. While the Golf GTI Clubsport has a claimed zero to 100 kmph time of 5.9 seconds and the falcon is known to achieve speeds of over 300 kmph. A bait is tied to the car and the race takes off in a barren piece of land in Dubai. Capturing the car as well as the falcon, the video showcases the capabilities of the car which can match the fastest bird. The peregrine falcon is one of the few birds that was observed keenly in mankind's all avaiation efforts. But the hot hatchback is no slouch which is powered by a 2.0 litre TSI turbocharged petrol motor that generates 265 hp of power with additonal 25 hp overboost function. This engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
In terms of safety, the Golf GTI Clubsport is offered with traction control, electronicall locking front differential, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and multiple airbags. A new exhaust system which are larger, new diffuser, 19 inch 'Brescia' as well as 18-inch 'Belvedere' alloy wheels, redesigned roof spoiler are also few of the changes compared to its earlier iteration. The front bumper has also been redesigned with integrated air curtains which also enhances its aerodynamic character. The interiors feature automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system with steering mounted audio controls and a host of creature comforts. The seat belts, seats as well as the gear lever cover are stitched in red which are also covered in Alcantara upholstery as well.
