In other news, Volkswagen aims to electrify its range by the year 2030. To be precise, by the end of next one decade or so, the company aims to offer electrified versions of around 300 group vehicles. In November 2016, Volkswagen group announced its intentions to become the world's largest car maker by the year 2025. For this, the company slashed close to 30,000 jobs in favour of cost cutting to basically save cash towards investment in R&D and development of new technologies.
The company will roll out 80 eco-friendly vehicles by the middle of the next decade. These will include 50 electric models while the rest will be hybrids. The company further has plans to invest close to USD 24 billion in the development of new vehicles, training its staff, set up charging infrastructure, battery technology and production and upgrading its production facilities. With all these efforts, one can clearly see that the company is working hard on cleaning up its image that got dirty with the diesel gate scandal.
