Volkswagen launches Ameo Highline Plus starting at Rs 7.45 lakh

The new Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus get 16-inch alloy wheel, while the mechanicals remains unchanged.

We reported earlier that Volkswagen India is readying a new top-spec trim for its Polo lineup which will be the Polo Highline Plus. Now, the car manufacturer has added the top version, Highline Plus to its Ameo range in the country. The Highline Plus variant is already available on the Vento since last year with new features and some minor cosmetic changes. As confirmed by the company's dealer, the new Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus is available for sale at Rs 7.45 lakh for the petrol variant, while the diesel manual transmission version cost Rs 8.64 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh for the diesel automatic trim. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The prices are about Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 costlier than the standard Highline variant. The Ameo Highline Plus features 16-inch alloy wheels only over the standard Highline version.

Besides the cosmetic enhancement, the top version is powered by the same engines. The petrol Highline Plus is powered by the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 75 hp of power at 5,400 rpm and 110 Nm of peak torque at 3,750 rpm. The diesel option gets the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI unit with 110 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500-3,000 rpm. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel variant also gets a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus is already on sale at the company's dealerships in the country, however, in limited stock. The customers can also book the car at a token amount of Rs 5000. The Volkswagen Ameo will continue to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze and the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
