The upcoming Kia SP2i SUV has been spied on test recently by a Team-BHP reader. The Kia SP2i is expected to come with larger 18-inch alloy wheels with the top variant. The latest spy images show a new design for the alloy wheels compared to what we had seen on the SUV during the company's trial production ceremony in January 2019. The production name for the Kia SP2i will be revealed around April May and that is when the automaker will also officially unveil the production version of the SUV. Kia Motors made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018 and one of the models on display was the SP concept SUV on which the company's first production car for India is based.
Powering the Kia SP2i will be two engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options will come with the choice of a manual and automatic gearbox options. There will also be a more performance oriented 1.4-litre petrol engine that will be good for shedding out 140 horses. All engines will be ready to meet BS-VI emission norms. The upcoming Kia SP2i SUV is expected to come with some interesting features on board like 360-degree camera, wireless charging and more.
As one can see in the images, the majority of the Kia SP2i SUV was covered in camouflage and hence, the exact visual details are not visible properly. However, one can see the sleek LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and the company's Tiger Nose grille up front. The Kia SP2i is expected to be launched in India around the festive season. As far as pricing is concerned, the Kia SP2i is expected to be launched with prices starting at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle will primarily go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Mahindra XUV500 in the segment.
