Upcoming Cars: 2018 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for the Indian automotive industry, with more than 15 new cars making their way to be part of India's burgeoning market place. The year started with the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift alongside it's direct rival the 2018 Hyundai i20. As you go through the list of cars set to launch in India in 2018. What becomes apparent is sheer spectrum that the Indian Automotive industry serves today. Starting with cars like Audi's performance oriented SQ7 to Maruti's breakout design in A-segment SUVs the Future S. The Indian market continues to grow, here's what to expect from the Indian market.
Audi SQ7 2018
Audi SQ7 which is like like the S5 sportier but less commit than the crazy RS-badged, is set to be the next big launch of the year, the SQ7 which broke cover at Audi HQ in Germany last year. Like Volvo diesel boosting technology, Audi’s big diesel SQ7 will also have a diesel power boosting power compressor that will work to reduce lag. For everything else, the staggering 4.0-litre diesel V8 powertrain will do the rest. The Audi SQ7 is expected to launch by the end of March 2018
Mini Countryman 2018
MINI’s second generation of the Countryman in India has already made its official debut at the Auto Expo 2018. The new MINI is quite unlike what the name would suggest, in fact, it is even larger than its predecessor and has a new design language that keeps most of the Minis signature design cues alive, with some fresh new touches. This will be the second Countryman in India since its launch in 2010.
Maruti Suzuki Future S 2018
The Maruti Suzuki Future S was one of the Auto Expo 2018’s big headline, being the first car to be entirely designed in-house by Maruti Suzuki in India. Maruti’s new compact SUV set to take on the likes of the KUV100 gets a lot in the form of styling including a signature wrap-around A-pillar. The 2018 Future S concept does not only have some next-generation styling, it will also set the pace for the next generation of Maruti cars in India.
Jeep Renegade 2018
The Renegade will be the FCA’s second attempt into the Indian mass-market following the roaring success of their Compass that they launched last year. However, the Renegade unlike the Compass will make it to India through the CBU route at initial phases but will be localised with time. While the Renegade is likely to be underpinned by the Fiat 500X platform and be powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet2 engine offering two tune-trims with both manual and automatic gearboxes on offer. Once launched its likely to cost Rs 12 lakh and hopes to capitalize on the growing trend of the upscale adventure crowd.
Ford Freestyle 2018
The Ford Freestyle is the newest addition to the Figo range from Ford although like the Aspire Ford Freestyle also doesn't get the Figo’s badge. The Freestyle Crossover will take on the likes of the Active i20, the Fiat Avventura and the WR-V once launched. The Ford Freestyle will get a new 1.2-litre petrol motor which will transmit power through a brand new 5-speed manual gearbox
