Paying for challans is about to get a lot more easier as you can use Paytm. The e-payment and e-commerce company has added the facility in three cities to begin with, and plans to expand to other cities as well. This will come as a relief for those who accidentally or knowingly jump traffic signals or those who forget or choose not to wear helmets. Paying off challans may now be at your fingertips, but the point is try best not to avail this convenience and abide by the rules for the safety of yourself and others.
The traffic challan option will be available on the Paytm app on smartphones under the 'Recharge or Pay for' tab, and is currently available in three cities in Maharashtra - Mumbai, Pune and Vijayawada.
After tapping on the 'Traffic Challan' icon, the app will prompt you to select your city, following which you can enter you vehicle or challan number and make the payment. Options for payment will include the same as used for the other payments, including debit/credit card, net banking and of course the Paytm wallet.
If your offence is big enough to have made you surrender your documents, they will be shipped to your address via postal services by the police, once the payment invoice has been generated on Paytm.
The system for paying challans may have been made streamlined, saving you a lot of hassle involving cash or documents, however, the focus of the matter should be the fact that one must always follow traffic rules, not because it will save you from challans but because a helmet or a seat belt is for you own protection.
