A paradigm shift looms over the industry, gas pluggers are just a few years to become completely extinct, spurred on by this EV revolution Toyota Motor Corp, has announced that they will be rolling out 10 electric vehicles to India by early 2020. Toyota is one of the only manufacturers in the world right now which is yet to have even one prototype EV even as a prototype. Toyota has said their primary focus market will be in China after which they will focus on the rest of the world.

According to the plans unveiled by Toyota in Japan, Toyota also said that they will be working on electrified versions of all their models in both Toyota and Lexus portfolios by 2025. An ambitious agenda, but one that has become almost inevitable under the current circumstances. Adding to the high ambitions of this plan Toyota also say that by 2025 they intend to be selling 1 million EVs every year. However here is the interesting bit, if Toyota does make the 10 vehicle mark in terms of EVs. This would put Toyota as a frontrunner in the lead in terms of EV manufacturers in Japan.

Now the story gets even more interesting when you consider the tie-up between Suzuki and Toyota to push for EVs for India. Now Maruti has said that they will use these jointly manufactured platforms for Maruti cars in India in previous stories. It will be interesting to how both companies compete in the Indian market space with similar platforms post-2020.
