Toyota has just released the teaser image of its GR Super Sport concept that is all set to be unveiled early next year. The teaser image does not show much about the upcoming car. Only the silhouette and tail end is visible that reveals some information on what the new sports car will look like. The outlining of the new Toyota GR Super Sport has major resemblances to that of a proper Le Mans endurance styled race car. The concept looks to be the road legal version of the TS050, for which Gazoo Racing, the racing arm of Toyota received a lot of applauds and appreciation. The car shown in the teaser image has free-flowing fenders that look good. One can clearly see the rear spoiler standing high on the tail section. The long raked roofline helps the car earn that race car type aesthetics, which no doubt looks appealing. The rear end of the GR Super Sports also features the honey-comb finish that looks quite decent. The chrome finished alloy wheels look fancy but they fail to deliver that race feeling.
The engine details of the upcoming Toyota GR Super Sport are not available at the moment. However, we believe that the car will source its power from a 2.4-litre, turbocharged V6 engine but it should be less aggressively tuned as the one used in World Endurance Championship (WEC). The Toyota GR Super Sport is expected to sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in close to 3 seconds. The engine will most likely feature a hybrid system.
Besides the new Super sports concept, Gazoo Racing will also be showcasing WRC Yaris. The GR Super Sport concept will be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon that will showcase over 1,000 cars in its new edition. More details will be revealed at the auto show and to assume anything more about the car at the moment will be too early.
