Toyota has launched a new variant of the Etios, called the Etios Cross X Edition. The Etios Cross X Edition is priced between Rs 6.80 lakh and Rs 8.22 lakh, ex-showroom, Kolkata, and is available in both petrol and diesel versions. The new Toyota Etios Cross X Edition gets new features both inside out. The exterior of the X Edition gets a new black front grille with fog lamp bezels, body coloured plastic cladding as well as the X badging.
Inside the cabin, the new Etios Cross X Edition is equipped with an instrument panel with carbon fibre finish, new fabric seats and a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera display. The infotainment system features Bluetooth, voice recognition and also gets a remote control. For safety, the car manufacturer has equipped the X Edition with dual-front airbags and ABS (Antilock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution).
Mechanically, the car remains unchanged. The new Toyota Etios Cross X Edition is powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol and 1.4 litre diesel engine that powers the existing Etios line up. The petrol engine produces 78 hp of power and 104 Nm of torque, while the diesel unit delivers 66 hp of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Toyota had recently announced a price hike for models including the Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Corolla Altis and Platinum Etios as the GST Council had increased the cess from 2 to 7 percent across mid-size to large size cars and SUVs. Now, with the launch of the new X Edition model before the festive season in the country, the company hopes to get a bit of extra momentum in sales as the sentiment in the market is mostly positive during this time.
