Tata Motors is expanding its diesel engine drivetrain offerings, as the official website has listed the Nexon 7-speed dual-clutch (DCA) transmission diesel variant. The Nexon diesel is set to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra 3X0, while the segment’s frontrunner, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, remains available only in petrol and CNG versions.
Tata Nexon diesel DCA: What to expect?
According to Tata Motors’ official website, the Nexon Diesel DCA is available for online booking. Although the listed price is Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom, this is likely an indicative price, and we anticipate it will increase upon its launch. This vehicle is the first diesel compact SUV with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Currently, the Nexon Diesel DCA is offered only in the
highest variant, the Fearless + S, featuring a Daytona Grey dual-tone colour scheme. The company plans to expand the trim options for the DCA drivetrain. In addition to the new DCA, the Nexon Diesel will also be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT.
Tata Nexon diesel DCA: Features
As it is the top-of-the-line model, the Nexon diesel DCA gets all LED split headlights with fog lamps. It also comes with sequential indicators with welcome and goodbye functions and sits on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The cabin sports a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25 – inch instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker music system and a subwoofer, a wireless phone charger, front ventilated seats and cruise control. With the launch of the 3X0, Tata Motors could also offer a panoramic sunroof with the new Nexon variant. Regarding safety features, it has six airbags, a 360-degree camera with front parking sensors, a blind view monitor, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Tata Motors’ connected technology.
Tata Nexon diesel DCA: Engine Specs
The Nexon diesel 7-speed DCA will be powered by the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre Revotroq engine with an output of 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Apart from the new 7-speed transmission, the diesel version will be available with a 6-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The Nexon diesel price range starts from Rs 11.10 lakh to Rs 15.60 lakh, ex-showroom.
