Tata Motors is building a buzz around the buzz of the much anticipated launch of Curvv. The coupe SUV made its debut in a concept form back in the 2023 Auto Expo followed by a closer-to-production model at the inaugural Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. Curvv will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture also called Acti.ev platform.
A couple of days ago, the Indian automaker shared the first official teasers of the upcoming crossover on its social media platforms. Since then the company has shared a couple of more teasers on social media, the latest teaser highlighting its capabilities and performance. In the short clip, two fully camouflaged test mules of Curvv were seen in the latest teaser clip.
The two prototypes of the coupe SUV can be seen trail bashing on the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer in the middle of the afternoon at 50-degree celsius. It is already known to us that Tata Motors will be offering both ICE and fully-electric iterations of the coupe SUV. Therefore, it is possible that the prototypes teased in the video high both the combustion-powered and battery-powered versions.
Sand dune bashing is considered to be one of the most challenging off-roading obstacles, and Tata Motors wants to build the image of an off-road capable SUV with the Curvv. While the all-electric version of Curvv is expected to come with an optional all-wheel drive variant, the ICE derivative of the coupe SUV will be a front-wheel driven car as the rest of petrol and diesel-powered models in Tata’s lineup.
Tata Curvv: Specs & features
Specifications on both versions are currently under wraps. The electric version of Curvv is likely to go on sale first and is expected to offer a 400-500 km range on full charge. On the other hand, the fossil-fueled Curvv will utilise the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine as Nexon, albeit in a higher state of tune. Transmission duties will be carried out by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. A 7-speed DCT could also make the cut.
In terms of features, Curvv is likely to benefit from features like a floating touchscreen infotainment display, a fully-digital instrument console, a new two-spoke steering wheel with a touch panel, and touch-based HVAC controls. Other notable features to be included are push-button start, powered ORVMs, and wireless smartphone charging to name a few.
