A fresh image of the Skoda Kodiaq being tested in India has surfaced online. The spy image released by TeamBHP was taken on the roads on Pune. Skoda product line up has been under renovation in India and the brand has also been gaining momentum in the market. The Kodiaq is a mid-size SUV, and is likely to launch in the country later this year. Although, a prerequisite expected in a SUV is aggressive styling, however the Czech brand has not bothered with running the race and has kept the styling simplistic and sophisticated, as was the case with the Yeti.
The Kodiaq has an angular design language, will come with optional LED headlamps and LED tail lamps as standard. The Indian version of the car is expected to get Skoda Connect touchscreen that would support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include motorised tail-gate, dual zone automatic climate control, engine start/stop button, power operated front seats among others.
The petrol variant in India is likely to come with a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder TSI engine that makes 152.8 hp, and the diesel variant would be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine with an output of 187.4 hp. Both the engines will be available with dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
Speculations suggest that diesel variant of the Kodiaq will be launched in India first. The car will come with an expected price tag of about Rs 30 lakh, and would compete against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
