Skoda Auto India has launched their Kodiaq SUV in India today and marks its first official foray into the SUV Market Segment in India. Although it stands to face to very elite competitors in the form of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. We believe that Skoda has priced it decently to take on the competition. The Skoda Kodiaq shares it MQB modular platform with the likes of the Tiguan and the Superb, but stands longer than the Tiguan but shorter in length than the superb. The Kodiaq gets 18-inch wheels, on which the with 235-section tyres that add to “big” effect of the Kodiaq. The Skoda Kodiaq will come with a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces somewhere to the tune of 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque.

01:30 pm: The headrests on second row seats features two drop down sticks that can be pulled down, placed between the neck and lets you take a comfortable nap. It is very useful feature on a long drive for both adults and kids. The arm-rest also gets cup holders and second-row seats gets rear A/C vents too.
12:55 pm: The DRLs on Skoda Kodaiq are more angular when compared to the Skoda Superb giving it a different look. Overall the headlamp cluster have more crystalline elements and the front butterfly grille is bigger and more prominent.
12:50 pm: Boot space on Skoda Kodiaq can be extended ranging from 720-2005L by folding the third row and second row seats. Kodiaq offers the largest boot space in its segment. The tailgate can be electrically operated and also be opened and closed using foot gesture command or a button in the interior.
12:35 pm:Here it is, the locally assembled Skoda Kodaiq is launched in India and priced aggressively at Rs 34.49 lakh. The company is very confident about its new SUV in the Indian market and also hints of bringing in more SUVs to India. We expect the next SUV the Skoda Karoq SUV will be the next one from the global Czech auto maker.

12:25 pm: Skoda Kodiaq safety features; The Kodiaq gets 9 airbags as standard safety feature along ABS, ESP, traction control, 360-degree parking sensors with camera. The SUV has been rewarded with a 5-star rating by Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).

This is also Skoda's first bet on a seven-seater SUV in India. Globally, the SUV is available with 5-seat configuration but India will only get the 7-seat variant.

11:15 am: The Kodiaq's dimensions are as follows: The Kodiaq will be 4,697 mm in length, with a width of 1,882 mm, and 1,676 mm tall and comes with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. At the same time, the ground clearance is also pretty decent at 187 mm
11:10 am: The Skoda Kodiaq comes with a 270 boot which is fine for daily use, but folding the third row liberates about 630 litres. And if you're moving house or large logistics, you could fold the third row and get a massive 2,000 litres. Although in reality, the third row of seats is best reserved for children.

10:40 AM: The Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by the groups 2.0 litre TDI Turbo Diesel powerplant that makes 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox as standard equipment.
10:35 AM: The Skoda Kodiaq is based on the VW groups global MQB platform although the platform is so modular in nature, that the Tiguan and the Skoda Superb which are underpinned by the same platform vary in terms of length. The Skoda Superb is longer than both while the Tiguan is shorter than both.
10:30 AM: The Skoda Kodiaq is set to launch today at noon and we expect the price to be in the Rs 25-30 lakh range for the seven-seater SUV. It is likely to compete with the likes of the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner once launched.
