It’s been a few weeks since the Bajaj Dominar advert taking a jab at Royal Enfield aired for the first time, ending on the scathing note of “hathi math palo”, which roughly translates to don’t take an elephant for a pet, insisting instead that one should go “hyper” riding on their 400cc Dominar. Royal Enfield officials, of course, took the high road and have chosen not to get into the mud slinging. In terms of pure numbers, Royal Enfields continue to own the Indian consumer’s heart. The thing is Royal Enfield buyers don’t just buy the motorcycles, they buy into the community and that community is something that stands strong for the brand even to this day. Understandably, the Dominar advert might have gotten on some of RE stauncher fans wrong nerve, the result?
This hilarious rehash of the Dominar ad going right up to the point that the pack of Dominars reach the “elefields’ (read our previous article to know why we made up this word). The twist comes at the end, that ends with a clip from a viral video of two guys on a Pulsar dropping the bike and making a run for the hills as a real-life Elephant charges at them. That to the soundtrack of two guys hysterically as the video rolls on. Bajaj may have had this one coming considering that RE’s ultra loyal fan base has always stood up for the brand even in the worst of days. Bajaj has made no statements about the video, and we don’t expect them to, it is funny. But at the end of the day, it’s some friendly sparring between a champion and a worthy challenger, and who doesn’t love that?
