Renault India that showcased two sporty concepts based on the Kwid - Climber and Racer - at the Auto Expo 2016, will launch the production-version of these in India. Though there is no official confirmation on the launch timeline, we expect one of these two to come in 2017.
Here's what you can expect from these two products -
Renault Kwid Climber & Racer Design
Both the Renault Kwid Climber and Racer have been largely designed and developed by the French carmaker's design studios in Chennai and Mumbai. While the Kwid Climber is claimed to be an off-roader with its high ground clearance, short overhangs, wide track and specially designed tyres. Other elements are - side protective mouldings, diamond-effect wheels, sculpted bumpers, flame orange finish lines and wheel arch extensions with electric blue highlights. The Kwid Climber's cabin features Nappa leather upholstery and steering wheels.
Coming to the Kwid Racer concept, this one comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, low-profile tyres, metallic blue finish, C-shaped LED lighting, wide air intakes and spoiler & diffuser. The Racer Concept's interior features material like Alcantara, aluminium and carbon. Other features are bucket seats, digital rev counter and leather-trimmed steering wheel with alloy frame.
Renault Kwid Climber & Racer Specifications
Though no official words on its specifications yet, we expect the Renault Kwid Climber and Racer editions to carry a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine. The current version features a 799cc engine that is good for 53bhp and 72Nm. The more powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine is expected to return around 68bhp. The same engine will first debut with the Kwid 1.0L version that is expected to launch during the festive season.
Renault Kwid Climber & Racer Expected Launch
Since both the vehicles are in concept forms only, we expect these to be launched sometime next year only. We'll update you more on this as soon as Renault reveals it.
