Renault is testing their upcoming crossover, the Kaptur, in India and launch is expected to happen soon. A new set of images of the crossover has been spied in Chennai by Motorviktan. The Kaptur will be positioned above the Duster in the company's product line-up and will be assembled at the Chennai facility. According to the images, the Kaptur will be offered with projector headlamps and C-shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), alloy wheels as well as a large front grille.
Renault Kaptur will be based on the company's MO platform and powered by a 1.6- litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to 6-speed manual as well as an automatic transmission option. The 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 103 hp of power and 148 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 diesel engine will be available in two states of tunes, 85 hp and 110 hp. The India-bound Kaptur will get an all-wheel-drive with a rear locking differential.
The India bound Kaptur measures 4,333 mm long, 1,813 mm wide, 1,613mm tall and will have a wheelbase of 2,674 mm. The crossover's interior features a touch screen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and flat-bottomed steering wheel. The Kaptur is expected to start from Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta.
