Renault had earlier showcased the compact crossover Kaptur( Captur) at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show and soon the manufacturer will launch the vehicle in India. The crossover's test mule has been spied in India, revealing details about the exterior and interiors. The manufacturer is expected to launch the crossover around the festive season this year. The crossover will be positioned above the Duster in the company's product line up and will be manufactured at the Renault's Chennai facility.
According to the spied images, the Kaptur (Captur) will get projector headlamps with LED DRL's and larger grille. Inside the cabin, it gets a touch screen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and flat bottomed steering wheel.
The India bound Kaptur will be based on the Duster MO platform and not on the European version Captur. The Kaptur will be powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine and 1.5 diesel engine mated to 6 speed manual and automatic transmission. The 1.6 litre petrol engine produces 103 hp of power and 148 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 diesel engine churns out power in two states of tunes – 85hp and 110 hp. The upcoming crossover will get All wheel drive with locking center differential.
Dimensionally, the Kaptur will be 4,333mm long, 1,813mm wide, 1,613mm tall and will have a 2,674mm wheelbase. The Kaptur will be priced slightly at a premium price than the Duster and when launched, it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta.
