Range Rover Velar, the fourth in the series, is all set to be launched in India during the festive season this year. Bookings for the Velar have been opened, according to a report by Carandbike, which also states that an official price announcement will be made on 21st September and the SUV will be launched soon after. The new Land Rover Range Rover Velar will be positioned between the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque in the company's portfolio. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 1 crore, ex-showroom. The new Velar will compete with the likes of the Audi Q7 and the BMW X5.
The Land Rover Range Rover Velar will be available in four variants and will get a new InControl infotainment system, the Touch Pro Duo that will feature a 25.4 cm (10-inch) touchscreen. The car will also boast of a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display that projects driving information, entertainment and active safety data such as navigation, phone and media. Other highlights of the new Velar will include coloured Head-Up-Display (HUD) that projects vehicle data such as speed, gear position and navigation directions on the windscreen.
The exterior will receive 22inch 9 split-spoke alloys and Matrix-laser LED headlamps on higher trims. The standard equipment will consist of rain sensing wipers, tailgate slotted spoiler, flush deployable door handles and heated exterior mirrors. At the rear, the SUV will get LED quad tail lamps, while the standard safety features will include intrusion sensor, Emergency Brake Assist and six airbags.
The new SUV will be powered by a 2.0 litre Ingenium four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (D180) that produces 177 hp of power and 430 Nm of torque. The 3.0 litre V6 twin turbocharged diesel unit (D300) will power the higher diesel variants. The engine will generate 296 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque.
The petrol variants, on the other hand, get a P250 Ingenium 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 246 hp of power and 365 Nm of torque. All engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
