Porsche Panamera, the first ever four door sedan from the German manufacturer, has entered its second generation. It has been launched in India in two trims - Panamera Turbo and Panamera Turbo Executive. The Turbo Executive is a long wheel base version for increased passenger space at the rear. Porsche have priced it at Rs 1.93 crore and Rs 2.06 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) respectively for Turbo and Turbo Executive. The Panamera Turbo can accelerate to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds (3.6 seconds with Sport Chrono package), while the Executive is only 0.1 seconds slower to do 100 kmph, Porsche claims.
Both trims are capable of a top speed of 306 kmph. The Panamera Tubo will be powered by a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 unit that develops 550 hp and 770 Nm of torque, which is 30 hp and 70 Nm more than the previous generation.
The two models get an all wheel drive powertrain paired with an eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch automatic gearbox. They also get four different driving modes – Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual.
Setting a new record in luxury sedan segment, Porsche says the Panamera Turbo lapped the Nürburgring in seven minutes and 38 seconds. It gets a host of drive controls like air suspension with three-chamber technology, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control System with Torque Vectoring Plus, 4D chassis control system and rear axle steering. The Panamera Turbo has also been given an extendable spoiler that rises at its operable speed.
On the inside, the first notable feature is the 12.3-inch touchscreen with the Porsche Communication Management system. There is a list of optionals to choose from, such as massaging seats, 3D sound system from Burmester, ambient lighting.
Porsche will add to its product line up in India the Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid and the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo, recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Panamera Diesel, Diesel S, E-Hybrid and 4S may also be introduced in India later.
