German auto maker Volkswagen has unveiled its 2018 Tiguan R-Line SUV at the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show. The new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line get a special package that makes the SUV more aggressive and sporty than the standard model. The Tiguan R-Line gets cosmetic enhancement such as larger and gloss finished air intakes and chrome grille up front, while the rear gets gloss black finished diffuser and smoked LED tail lamps. The side profile suggests that the R-Line version has been upgraded to body coloured side skirts and 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The lower version, on the other hand, gets 19-inch alloys.
The cabin of the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line also gets sportier R-Line package similar to the exterior. Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line features interiors features R-Line badges on the steering wheel, infotainment system start screen as well as on the brushed aluminium door sills. A black headliner and sportier steel pedals are also a part of the upgrade.
Mechanically, there are no changes, the Tiguan R-Line is powered by the same 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 184 hp of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed DSG automatic transmission and sends power to the front wheels or the optional All-Wheel Drive system. This is the same unit that also powers the Volkswagen Tiguan in India, but develops power in a different state of tune. Moreover, the engine is paired to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
As of now, the five-seater Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line will be available for sale in the US market by early 2018 and it will be soon introduced in European markets. The SUV is offered on the top variant in the US. The company has no plans to launch the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line in the Indian auto market in the near future.Currently the Volkswagen Tiguan takes on the likes of Skoda Kodiaq SUV, Toyota Fortuner, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and the BMW X1.
