New Maruti Suzuki Dzire unveil Live Updates: Launch in May

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is unveiling the next generation of its compact sedan, the Dzire in India today. Here are the live updates from the venue


The compact sedan segment will witness the introduction of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire on 16th May, 2017. The company although is unveiling that car today which is expected to come with a host of new features which would include a new infotainment system as well. The Dzire is expected to be powered by a set of petrol and diesel engine options with manual as well as automatic gearboxes on offer. In addition, the new design silhouette would also replace the ageing design language of the existing model with some additional features on the outside that are present in a few of its competitors. We bring you the live updates from the venue as the unveil happens.


6: 59 pm: Over 100 kg has been saved in the new Dzire over the present Swift Dzire for the diesel version. Petrol car is lighter by 85 kg.

6:58 pm: AGS (Automated Manual Transmission) will be offered on both diesel and petrol versions.

6: 33pm: The new Dzire is based on HEARTECT platform, and is built with ultra high tensile sheet metal

6: 25 pm: Boot space of new Dzire has increased from 316 litres to 376 litres

6:15 pm: Booking of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire will start in first week of May this year

6: 10 pm: Other safety features include door ajar warning light and seat belt warning audio alarm

6: 07 pm: In addition to the standard ABS, EBD and dual front airbags, the new Maruti Suzuki DZire is so compliant with frontal offset as well as side impact protection.

6:00 pm: The compact sedan will be offered in six exterior colours, Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red apart from the existing Arctic White, Silky Silver and Magma Grey.

5:55 pm: According to the company, over 13.6 lakh models of the existing, as well as previous generations of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, have been sold till date

5: 50 pm: The car will be offered in Lxi, Vxi/ Vxi (AGS), Zxi/ Zxi( AGS),Zxi Plus( AGS) for petrol variants, while for diesel variants will be available in Ldi, Vdi, Vdi AGS, Zdi/ Zdi AGS as well as Zdi Plus AGS trims

5: 45 pm: Dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) will be standard across all variants

5:40 pm: The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is based on the Baleno’s platform and is 105 kgs lighter for the diesel trims and 85 kgs lighter for the petrol versions




5: 35 pm: The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire measures 3,995mm in length, 1,515mm in height, and 1,735mm in width

5: 30pmThe interiors in addition to a new touchscreen infotainment system will also feature an automatic climate control, a twin pod instrument cluster and a flat-bottomed steering wheel

5: 25 pm: The front end will have a revised hexagonal grille with a revised tail lamp cluster, however, the silhouette will remain same

5: 20 pm: Top-end variants on the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire will get LED projector headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) while the rear gets LED tail lamps. The lower versions get standard halogen headlamps.

5:15 pm: Transmission options available both engines will be a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the select petrol variant will get a 4-speed automatic gearbox while some diesel versions will get an Auto Gear Shift

5: 10 pm: The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be powered by the 1.2 litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine

5: 05 pm: The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be offered with a touchscreen infotainment system which is expected to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
