Mahindra and Mahindra is presently working on the TUV500, a bigger sibling of the TUV300. Recently, the Mahindra TUV500 has been spotted testing by revealing its design and interior. The test mule is completely camouflaged, but from the images, we can make out the upcoming SUV will share its design cues with the TUV300.

The TUV500 is expected to have a longer wheelbase than the TUV300 with three rows. The spied images suggest that the upcoming car will have a seven-seat configuration as the company has equipped the TUV500 with larger C-pillar and glass as well as a large rear overhang and fixed third windows. This will create more space for the rear passengers with ample legroom. The TUV500 will also receive raised shoulder lines, high ground clearance, new front grille design with chrome accents, squarish wheel arches and a rear mounted spare wheel.

Unlike the TUV300, the upcoming compact SUV will have foldable middle and third-row seats along with rear air-conditioning vents. The interior could get a dual tone black and beige theme as well as a piano black finish on the centre console. The images also reveal the interior could get auto climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system.

There is no confirmation on the powertrain options, but we expect the new Mahindra TUV500 to be powered by the TUV300's 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that will develop 100 hp of maximum power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of peak torque between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) or a 5-speed auto-shift automatic gearbox.
