The new Ford Freestyle has made its global debut in India and it comes based on the company's Figo hatchback. The front grille on the new Freestyle shares its design cues with the unit that you must have seen on the Mustang. India launch in second quarter of 2018.

Ford has just unveiled its Freestyle crossover in India and the global premiere of the car has taken place in the country only. The car will be launched in India first and the unveil in Brazil is in 9 hours from now. The India launch of the new Ford Freestyle will take place in the second quarter of 2018. The new Ford Freestyle has been spied multiple times wearing a camouflage in recent times. The new Ford Freestyle is based on the present day Figo hatchback. Added bits on the new Freestyle include new cladding, along with an updated design. The front grille on the new Ford Freestyle takes its design inspiration from the unit that you must have seen on the Mustang. On the sides, the vehicle gets black plastic outlining that help the said model look significantly different from the existing one. For a change, the car also gets racing stripes on the roof rails for a more sportier appeal. The new Ford Freestyle also gets LED tail lamps and sporty alloy wheels.

The external rear view mirrors on the new Ford Freestyle are drenched in black and come integrated with turning winkers. The door handles of the car are chrome finished that lend a premium and upmarket appeal. The new Ford Freestyle also gets an updated cabin with a host of new features. To start with, the new Freestyle receives a new dashboard that will also make its way to the new Figo and Aspire. A bigger touchscreen infotainment system has also made its way to the interiors and it is the same unit that comes in the new Ford EcoSport facelift. The connectivity system supports both, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the company's SYNC3 set up.

The new Ford Freestyle gets its power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine that is good for churning out a maximum power of 96 hp. The mill is mated to a manual transmission system. There will be a diesel engine on offer as well that is shared with the new EcoSport and it will also come mated to the new manual transmission. The company said that the Make in India campaign for the world is going to be a focus area for Ford India. Also, it will be the first company in India to export cars to North America. Ford added that there is more than 85% average localisation on Ford cars manufactured in India.
