The all new Audi A5 is all set to be launched next month on 5th October and will be available in two body styles, Cabriolet and Sportback. The new Audi A5 will be slotted between the A4 and A6 sedans in the company's lineup in India. In global markets, the Audi A5 is available with a choice of 4 and 6 cylinder engines in both petrol and diesel versions but the India-spec car is likely to get a 2.0 litre TFSI petrol and a 2.0 litre TDI diesel unit. Both 4-cylinder engines are expected to be paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine will produce 190 hp of maximum power and 320 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is also expected to develop 190 hp of power, but torque will be higher at 400 Nm.
The car manufacturer already sells the Audi S5 Sportback in India, the more powerful version of the A5. It is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 engine with 328 hp and 440 Nm of torque. The upcoming Audi A5 will be sold alongside the S5 model and now it will have three models in its range.
The second generation A5 is based on the new A4 but has a longer wheelbase of 2,824 mm. The car will also get short overhangs both at the front and rear and will feature a single frame grille, which is wider than the previous model. The rear, on the other hand, gets a spoiler and dual exhaust pipe.
The company has retained some of the interior features of the A4 in the upcoming A5. The cabin will have more space than the A4 as Audi has increased the dimensions of the car by 17 mm in length, rear passenger shoulder room by 11 mm and knee room by 24 mm.
With the launch of the new Audi A5, it will be Audi's ninth model in the Indian auto market as part of the company plan to launch 10 models this year in the country. The carmaker has launched the A4 with a diesel engine, updated the Q3 with a petrol engine and recently launched the Q7 petrol.
