Hyundai Motor India has started road testing of the new 2018 Hyundai i20 earlier this year and is expected to debut at 2018 Auto Expo. The automatic variant of the Elite i20 has been spied by Rushlane in near company’s plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The automatic variants of 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 is likely to get cosmetic changes at exterior like the other regular variants. We expect tweaks to front headlamp clusterand a redesigned grille, minimal changes at the front and rear bumpers and gets an Auto badge on the front fender. The side profile of facelift Elite i20 automatic variant remain same and it gets wheel caps instead of alloy wheels. The higher variants of facelift i20 will get new set of alloy wheels. There are not many details about interiors, the facelift Elite i20 is expected to get same features as in new Hyundai Verna. It might get a new infotainment system and new seat upholstery.
Under the bonnet, the facelift Hyundai Elite i20 will carry same powertrain, 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 89 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque, paired with 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol version will get a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre unit that is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The company may also offer a new 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, which is expected to produce 120 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque.
Hyundai Elite i20 was launched in 2014 and it got the minor updates at interiors and new safety features this year. When launched the 2018 Elite i20 will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz. In 2017, Hyundai Motor India has already rolled in the new Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Xcent facelift. 2017 Hyundai Verna has become the segment leader beating the sales of Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Hyundai has also increased its export activity of its Verna to global markets.
