Mercedes-Benz India has commenced the local production of the GLC at its plant in Chakan, near Pune. Now the locally manufactured GLC is priced at Rs 47.90 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mercedes-Benz India has commenced the local production of the GLC at its plant in Chakan, near Pune. Now the locally manufactured GLC is priced at Rs 47.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The carmaker launched the Mercedes-Benz GLC in June this year at a starting price of Rs 50.70 lakh, ex-showroom for the diesel variant and Rs 50.90 lakh, ex-showroom for the petrol trim. At the time of its launch, the SUV was available as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU), called the Edition 1. The GLC has been put into local production in just 4 months of its launch in India.

The GLC shares its underpinnings with the C-Class and the same styling cues can be seen on the exterior as well as interiors like a twin-slat front grille along with a similar dashboard. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,873 mm and measures 1,639 mm in height, 1,890 mm in width and 4,656 mm in length.

Mechanically, the SUV remains unchanged. The petrol variant is powered by a 2.0 L engine that develops 245 hp of power and 370 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant gets a 2.2 L unit that generates 170 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and are also equipped with a permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The SUV also gets different driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual,

The luxury car manufacturer has also offered the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 rival with a host of exterior equipment such as LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and 17-inch alloys. The interior features a high-gloss wood trim, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 360-degree view of the vehicle while parking. Other equipment includes a 20 CD stereo, Garmin-based navigation, 2 USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity. The safety equipment on the Mercedes-Benz GLC consists of parking assist, attention assist, adaptive brake lights, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-descent control and seven airbags.

  • Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d Sport: Rs 51.50 lakh
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Sport: Rs 51.90 lakh
