After the launch of GLC 43 AMG 4Matic Coupe in India, Mercedes is all set to introduce its sports car AMG GT R and AMG GT Roadster on 21st August. Earlier this year, the company showcased the AMG GT R at the Good Speed Festival and it will be positioned above GT S in India. The AMG GT R is also known as the Green Hell and the sports car has been tested at the Nurburgring race track in Germany. The AMG GT R is powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine, that produces 585 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car accelerates from 0-100 kph in 3.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 317 km/h. The GT R is 90 kgs lighter than the GT S at 1,554 kg. The sports car travels on 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch at the rear. It gets LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs and wider air intakes at the front, while at the rear it gets horizontal LED tail lamps with a new exhaust system. It comes with three drive modes – Comfort, Sport and Sports Plus.
In addition, Mercedes-AMG will also bring the GT Roadster in India, which is powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine unit as the AMG GT R. The unit produces 470 hp of power and 630 Nm of peak torque mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission.
It is expected Mercedes-AMG will launch GT R and GT Roadster at a price range of about Rs 2 to Rs 3 crore. Both the models will be brought in India via CBU route.
