Before we start to speak about the various aspects of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, let's get to know what AMG is all about. Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach or AMG is the high-performance sub brand of Mercedes-Benz that works on making normal road cars go extremely fast and be a better car with regards to a purist. Right from the C-Class' aggressive cousin, the C43 4MATIC to the GLE's maniac version, the GLC 43 Coupe, these cars have been tuned to have blistering performance figures. Now, the AMG lineup is set to increase with the introduction of the GLE 43 Coupe which would be an equally menacing German powerhouse. Some of the mechanical components between the GLE 43 and the GLC 43 will be shared, but since the latter is based on the C-Class' platform, it has a number of other changes. Here is what the expected price, features and specifications will be.
Mercedes-Benz is expected to price the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe around the Rs 80 lakh, ex-showroom mark. If introduced at this price, the coupe will be a strong contender compared to its competitors which, although few, may have a run for their money. From this price point, the GLC 43 Coupe will compete with the Audi S5 and the likes in India.
Engine and Gearbox
Powering this German performance-oriented coupe will be a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol mill. This engine would generate 367 hp of power, 520 Nm of torque and will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is the same as the GLE 43 Coupe but since the GLC 43 Coupe is lighter, the claimed zero to 100 kmph figure comes up in 4.9 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than its elder sibling. The top speed of the GLC 43 Coupe like all other AMGs will be electronically limited to 250 kmph. Different driving modes based on the driving conditions would also be offered along with an all-wheel-drive system as standard.
The GLC 43 Coupe will feature a sporty detail on the inside. The all-black treatment with red elements across the cabin would exude its character in a subtle manner. Aluminium inserts on the steering wheel, as well as the dashboard, would add a hint of premium appeal as well. The faux carbon fibre on the centre console would also add a bit more sportiness. In terms of equipment, the GLC 43 Coupe, like all other Mercedes-AMG cars, would be loaded to the hilt. An 8-inch infotainment system which can be controlled through the touch panel located on the centre console can be controlled using hand gestures. This unit will support Bluetooth connectivity as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Sound quality is expected to be top-notch thanks to the 13 speaker setup from Burmester paired with a 9-channel DSP amplifier delivering an output of 590 watts. Another key element on the inside is that this five seater coupe would have class leading boot space at 491 litres which can be expanded to 1,400 litres with the second row completely folded. The seats too would have a 40:20:40 split setup.
Like all other AMGs from the German carmaker's stable, the exterior of the GLC 43 Coupe would be offered with low profile alloy wheels, AMG badged brake calipers, silver as well as chrome inserts and air intakes meant only for AMG cars.
With the launch of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, the German carmaker is all set to introduce another high-performance coupe version. Not only would it be an everyday car, it would also offer the adrenaline factor an enthusiast would look for in a car.
