Maruti Suzuki India Limited has increased the prices of some of its models starting from Rs 1,500 to Rs 20,000. Although details are yet to emerge, the recently launched Vitara Brezza has been given a price hike of Rs 20,000, while the premium hatchback Baleno's prices have gone north by Rs 10,000. Both these new models have been in high-demand and have commanded a waiting period since their commercial introduction.
Since the company has not yet made an official statement on the price hike, the reasons behind it are yet to be ascertained. However, the demand for these Baleno and Vitara Brezza has been so strong that the company has had to work hard to produce enough cars to bring the waiting period down. Some unconfirmed reports have also suggested that the company has postponed the production of some upcoming models in order to deal with the waiting period for these cars first.
