Japanese car manufacturer, Suzuki has launched the facelift version of Alivio in China, which is known as Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India. Earlier, Suzuki showcased facelifted Alivio at 2017 Chengdu Motor Show in August. The facelift version of sedan gets cosmetic updates at the exterior and interior. The sedan gets redesigned front bumper with grille and chrome accents at fog lamps. The side profile of sedan remains same and it gets 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, Suzuki Alivio gets a dual tone bumper and chrome lining around the reflectors. Inside the cabin, the sedan gets dashboard finished in black, paddle shifters, push Start stop button, cruise control and rear AC vents. The 2017 Suzuki Alivio is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 120 hp of power and 158 Nm of torque. The unit is mated to 6-speed automatic transmission and a 5-speed manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch facelift version of Ciaz by next year and it might get same updates as in the Alivio. The India bound Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will carry the same powertrain 1.4-litre petrol engine and 1.3-litre diesel engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki) system generate 88.5 hp and 200 Nm. It is expected that the 2017 Ciaz might get in-house built Suzuki's 1.5-litre diesel engine. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki might showcase facelift Ciaz at the 2018 Auto Expo along with 2018 Swift.
Although the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which was launched in 2014 is still selling more than 5,000 units a month but is slowly losing out to the likes of the 2017 Honda City and the fresh-new Hyundai Verna. A facelift and some additional features may be exactly what the doctor ordered for Maruti Suzuki. We could expect it in the sub-continent late next year.
