Mahindra XUV500 petrol version revealed in UAE, India launch soon

The petrol version of XUV500 will be powered by a 2.2-litre m-Hawk engine that churns out 140 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque.

We reported earlier that Mahindra and Mahindra is working on a petrol version of the XUV500 and is expected to launch soon in the Gulf. Before the official launch, details of the XUV500 petrol version have been revealed on Mahindra UAE website. The petrol version of XUV500 will be powered by a 2.2-litre m-Hawk engine that churns out 140 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. It is expected that the XUV500 petrol version will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel-drive as optional. The company is also likely to launch a manual transmission option eventually. For Gulf market, it is expected that XUV500 with petrol engine will come in the top W10 variant and is expected to be priced around 74,900 dirhams (Rs 13 lakh).

As for India, the company could introduce the SUV with G nomenclature and it will be launched only in one variant. The petrol version of the seven-seater will come equipped with features such as seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags and cruise control.

In addition, Mahindra and Mahindra have also started testing the facelift version of XUV500, which is expected to launch this year. The facelift version of XUV500 will get cosmetic updates at the front and rear bumpers, a and refreshed design of alloy wheels.

Also, the company is expected to introduce the retuned version of XUV500 with 2.2-litre m-Hawk engine that will produce 170 hp of power. Mahindra launched the XUV500 in 2011 and it got its first update in 2015. However, earlier this year the company updated Mahindra XUV500 with new features such as Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense & Emergency Call.

The India launch of XUV500 with a petrol engine is expected to happen by later this year and when launched, it will compete with the likes of Jeep Compass and Tata Hexa.
