Live Update: Tata launches Tigor- specs, price, features and mileage

Tata Motors  launches its new compact sedan Tigor today.The Tigor is a sub-four metre sedan and the first and only notchback in the company's portfolio presently. The car is based on the Tiago hatchback's platform and shares exterior and interior design and features. However, the Tigor does feature completely different styling at the rear, which Tata refers to as a Styleback..

Inside the cabin too, despite similarities with the Tiago there are some new and useful features along with more space. The car also boasts of the largest boot in its segment along with a unique design that improves actual luggage storing capacity. The Tigor features the same engines powering the Tiago, a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.05 litre three-cylinder diesel engine.The Tigor will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai Xcent.

12:19 pm: According to Tata,Tigor is India's first style back

12:12 pm-The Tigor is offered in six colours: Brown, white, red, silver, blue and copper dazzle

12: 05 pm: The Tigor comes in 4 variants with 2 engine options- XE, XZ, XT and XZ(O)

12:03pm: The Tigor gets 4 speakers and 4 twitters and dual airbags.

12:00pm: This the first car in the segment with multi drive modes- City and Eco

11:54am: The Tata Tiago has received impressive response and over 83,000 bookings have been done so far as well as 50,000 units have been delivered

11:50 am: Dimension wise, the Tigor measures 3,992 mm in length,1,677 mm in width, 1,537 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.

11:42am: The Tigor petrol engine is expected to deliver an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 22 kmpl, while the diesel engine will offer 26 kmpl.

11: 29am: Inside the cabin, the Tigor gets features such as Harman infotainment system with a touchscreen and eight speakers (4 speakers, 4 tweeters). The infotainment system is compatible with Bluetooth, Aux-in, USB and FM radio.

11: 23 am: Unlike many other compact sedans, the Tigor's boot doesn't look as if it has been welded on to a hatchback. Instead, it gets neatly with the rest of the design.

11:20 am: The key design change starts from just after the C-pillar. The roof extends smoothly into the boot, making the Tigor one of the better looking cars in its segment.

11:15 am: Changes at the side include new diamond-cut 15-inch alloy wheels, which lend a bit of dynamism to the overall design.

11:10am: Tigor features smoked-out headlamps with a different cluster design. The cubical clusters now house projector headlamps, which offer better illumination.

11:05 am: Despite having the same engines from Tiago and similar power too, there isn't a big difference between the performance of the Tigor and Tiago. This is because the Tigor is only about 50 kg heavier than the Tiago.

11:00am: Both engines are right now being offered only with a five-speed manual transmission. The company will look at launching the AMT gearbox if they find enough demand.

10:55am: The diesel engine is a Revotorq 1,050 cc three-cylinder turbocharged unit, which develops 70 hp and 140 nm of torque.

10:50am: The petrol engine is Revotron 1.2 litre three-cylinder unit, which develops 83 hp and 115 Nm of torque.

10:44 am: Tigor features the same range of engines that power the Tiago hatchback.

10:37 am: Tigor is actually a notchback, wherein the roofline flows smmothly right up to the tip of the boot. Tata Motors, however, calls the car a 'Styleback'.

10: 30 am: The Tigor sedan is based on the Tiago's platform but features minor design differences at the front. The rear, however, is completely new.
