Lexus LS 500h Hybrid debuts in India at a price of Rs 1.77 crore

The Lexus LS 500 H, hybrid SUV has launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.77 crore in India and is likely to return 15 kmpl from its Hybrid assisted petrol motor which is likely to make 365 hp!

The luxury brand of Toyota, Lexus is on a roll in India ever since its debut, the company has already bought a range of four cars in less than one year of operations and now the company has launched Lexus LS 500h sedan in India marking its first launch of 2018. The car made its first public appearance at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show and has been priced at an expensive tag of Rs 1.77 crore in India. Like other Lexus cars in India, the LS 500h also comes via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route and additional cess and import duty addresses the heavy price.

Lexus LS 500h is yet another hybrid car being launched by the company and globally the sedan is in its fifth generation and is based on the new GA-L platform. Signature front grille marks the Lexus family design language with the headlamp cluster design drifting towards the side makes it give an aggressive look. This luxury sedan is the fourth hybrid car from Lexus India. The sedan is 5325 mm in length, 1900 mm in width and stands tall at 1450 mm. Lexus LS 500h has a wheelbase of 3125 mm and a ground clearance of 149mm.

Lexus LS 500h is powered by 3.5L V6 petrol engine with two additional electric motors that combine to give a maximum power of 354 hp. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox. The hybrid battery system is powered by 84 cells lithium-ion battery pack.

With the future towards the use of alternative fuels is inevitable, Lexus does believe hybrid and electric mobility is the future. N.Raja, Chairman, Lexus India did say “Taxation structure did slow down the sales of hybrids but it is now slowly picking up.” The company is indeed betting big on hybrids in India.

Lexus India plans to leverage the strong presence of Toyota in India to expand its dealer network in India. Currently, the company has 4 dealerships and 4 service centres across different Indian cities.

This new Lexus’ luxury sedan will compete with rivals like Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 in the luxury sedan space
