Land Rover has added a new 2-litre Ingenium engine to the Discovery Sport line up. The new engine replaces the 2.2-litre unit, which will now be discontinued from the brand's product range in India, according to a report on Autocar. The Discovery line up in India will now have similar engines as those available in other international markets. The new Ingenium engine will be offered in two tunes. One that makes 148 hp and the other that develops 177 hp. Another petrol variant called the HSE trim would a more powerful version of the car. The Discovery Sport will come with a price tag of Rs 50.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the base variant 2.0 diesel Pure.
The new engine on offer will be a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Ingenium diesel unit. It will be available in two tunes. The lower variant will get a unit that produces 148 hp and 382 Nm of torque and the customers opting for the top-end HSE Luxury variant will get 177 hp and 430 Nm of torque. All engine trims will be paired to 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Another HSE variant of the Discovery Sport will carry a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, that develops 237 hp and 340 Nm of torque.
The Discovery Sport will be available in five trims - Pure, SE, HSE diesel, HSE Luxury and HSE petrol. Prices for the variants are as follows: 2.0 Diesel Pure - Rs 50.72 lakh, 2.0 Diesel SE - Rs 57 lakh, 2.0 Diesel HSE - Rs 60.86 lakh, 2.0 Diesel HSE Luxury - Rs 64.76 lakh and 2.0 Petrol HSE - Rs 59.81 lakh.
