Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol gets a price cut of Rs 7 lakh

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) added the petrol variant of the Discovery Sport SUV in India in 2016. During the time of its launch, the Discovery Sport HSE petrol was priced at Rs 56.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and later the price was increased to Rs 58.79 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Now though, the car manufacturer has lowered the price of the petrol version by about Rs 7 lakh.We confirmed with a company dealership and were told that the Land Rover Discover Sport Petrol is being sold at a discount of Rs 7 lakh, although the sticker price remains unchanged . While the company has not cited any official reasons for the same, it could be due to the growing demand for petrol SUVs in the recent past and partially due to the recently launched Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Petrol version priced at Rs 56 lakh.

Besides this, the SUV remains same and is powered by a 2.0 litre Si4 petrol engine that produces 236 hp of power and 340 Nm of torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is equipped with safety features like automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, passenger airbag cut-off switch, perimetric alarm with remote panic alarm, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), and 6-airbags. Other standard features include a panoramic sunroof, adaptive Xenon headlamps, LED tail lamps, multiple USB charging points and premium leather upholstery.

Last year, the carmaker launched the SUV in India in order to replace the ageing Freelander 2. The company introduced the Discovery Sport, one of the most affordable SUVs in the country, with a 5+2 seat configuration.
