Jeep India today launched the petrol version of the Wrangler Unlimited at Rs 56 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The petrol version will sell alongside the diesel version, which is powered by a 2.8 litre 197 hp engine and was launched in August, 2016.
The Wrangler Unlimited petrol is powered by a 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 engine, churning out an impressive 280 hp and 347 Nm of torque. The all-aluminium engine features lightweight construction and the cylinders are arranged in a 60 degree angle. Power is channelled to a four-wheel drive system through a five-speed transmission. The engine also features a new thermal management system and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to offer improved fuel-efficiency.
The petrol Wrangler Unlimited retains the famed off-road capabilities the brand is known for globally. Coming to the aid of those with bitten by the wanderlust bug, the Wrangler comes with Command Trac 4WD system, a rugged suspension setup, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). In case you wade through water, the removable carpets can be washed and drain plugs can help release water with ease. Other driver aids include Hill Start Assist (HSA), Electronic Roll Mitigation and full-framed removable doors.
Speaking at the launch, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “We are delighted to now offer the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited at Rs. 56 lakh to Indian customers with the award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine. This will now be the most accessible model in the Wrangler line up equipped with this super smooth powertrain, the hallmark of efficiency, performance and refinement. With this announcement, the Trail-rated Jeep Wrangler is now available in both Petrol and Diesel powertrains in India.”
Despite its off-road focus, the Wrangler doesn’t compromise on luxury and features McKinley leather seats, automatic temperature control and keyless entry. The Wrangler Unlimited petrol will make it easier for entering the Jeep brand as its diesel sibling, priced at Rs 76 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
