Jeep has finally arrived in India officially today with the launch of three vehicles – Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is priced at Rs 71.59Lakh, the Grand Cherokee Summit Rs 1.03crore and Grand Cherokee limited Rs 93.64Lakh, while the high-performance SUV, the Grand Cherokee SRT carries a price tag of Rs 1.12 crore. All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Earlier this year at 2016 Auto Expo, the American SUV maker showcased the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler Unlimited. All the models will be sold through the CBU route. However, an India-made SUV will roll out next year. The company will manufacturer its models at its plant in Ranjangaon in Maharashtra.

Powering the new Grand Cherokee is a 3.0 L, turbocharged, V6, Eco diesel motor that churns out 240hp of power and 570Nm of peak torque. The unit is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, on the other hand, gets a 2.8 L , turbocharged , diesel engine that develops 197hp of power and 460Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood of the high-performance SUV, the 6.4L, HEMI, V8, petrol unit that generates 470hp of power, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission will power the model.
In terms of features, the Jeep Grand Cherokee gets an infotainment system, LED tail lamps and auto-dimming mirrors and roof-rails while Jeep Wrangler Unlimited gets a 6.5 inch touch screen display, Alpine sound system etc. The Jeep Cherokee SRT is loaded with the features like Active Noise Control, black interiors and a premium sound system.
The company is also planning to launch the petrol versions of the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee in November 2016, which will join the lineup. Moreover, Jeep will also open 10 new distribution outlets across nine cities in the country by the end of 2016.
