Jeep India, the Indian subsidiary of the American luxury SUV maker, will finally launch its highly-anticipated models in India on 1st September 2016. Jeep will launch its two models, namely; the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler. Both the models will be imported into India as a CBU.
The Grand Cherokee will be offered in two variants, Summit and Limited. The carmaker will also offer the high-performance model, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. The Grand Cherokee is powered by the 3.0L, EcoDiesel, turbocharged, V6 diesel engine, that produces 240 bhp of power and 570 Nm of torque. The motor will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. It will send the power to its all wheel drive system or Quadra-Trac II (for Limited variant) and Quadra-Drive II (for Summit variant). The SUV is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 12.8 kmpl. The Grand Cherokee SRT will include a 6.4L, HEMI, V8 engine with 470 bhp of power. It will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, on the other hand, is a 4-door version that will be launched in India. The SUV is powered by a 2.8L, CRD, turbocharged, four-cylinder, diesel unit. The engine develops 197 hp of power at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque between 1,600-2,000 rpm. It will have a fuel economy of 12.1 kmpl. Power is sent to its Command-Trac shift-on-Fly 4WD system via a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The standard features will include 8-way power driver and passenger seats with memory, heated front and second-row seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror with microphone, heated steering wheel and memory driver seat, mirror and radio. The SUVs also come equipped with safety features like 4-wheel traction control, cruise control, airbags, ABS, rain brake support, keyless entry, hill control and hill assist.
