Hyundai India has confirmed the launch of the new Hyundai Tucson in October in the country. The next-generation Hyundai Tucson, which was also displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, is expected to get its power from both – a 1.6 L petrol with 128 hp and a 2.0 L diesel engine with 175 hp of maximum power. The engines will come paired to a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. The South Korean car manufacturer might also equip the SUV with a four-wheel drive system.
The compact crossover SUV will carry a price of Rs. 16 to Rs. 18 lakh, ex-showroom, therefore, it will be positioned above the new Hyundai Creta in the company's lineup. The compact SUV will compete with the likes of the Honda CR-V and the Skoda Yeti in the segment. The car maker will sell the upcoming Tucson as a CKD (Completely Knock-Down) kit and it is expected that the car will have 50 % of localisation to keep the price and competition in check.
Just like the newly launched Hyundai Elantra, the new third-generation Tucson will get the Hyundai's Fluidic 2.0 design language. Moreover, the upcoming compact SUV will be built on the new Elantra's platform. On the exterior front, the projector headlamps with LED lamps and daytime running lamps as well as the LED tail lights along with electronic panoramic sunroof and tailgate will feature on the car. This differentiates the new Tucson from the previous generation model. The interiors will have ample space in terms of shoulder room and legroom.
Hyundai is known for selling its vehicle loaded with features, both at the exterior and interior. The interiors will include a new infotainment system with a touchscreen display, navigation, multifunctional steering wheel, front height adjustment and automatic climate control.
