Hyundai has unveiled the third model in its i30 range, the i30 Fastback in Europe which may be a perfect blend of performance with everyday practicality of a good fuel efficiency. Thomas Schmid, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor Europe told reporters at a launch event in Dusseldorf, Germany that more buyers are moving towards SUVs and Crossovers as the C-Segment in European countries is a bit 'boring'. The i30 Fastback with its integrated spoiler, a lower nose as well as a sleeker roof line compared to the i30 hatchback and the i30 N exudes a sporty design language. The Fastback also sits 5 mm lower than the hatchback and is 115 mm longer aiding to the sporty profile. Once launched, the new Hyundai i30 Fastback will be available in 12 exterior colour options, Stargazing Blue, Micron Grey, Phantom Black, Clean Slate Blue, Intense Copper, Moon Rock, Fiery Red, Platinum Silver, Ara Blue, White Sand, Engine Red and Polar White.
Carrying forward the sporty and interesting appeal, the interiors of the Hyundai i30 Fastback has an all-black treatment with a hint of silver through the cabin which includes the door handles, the three-spoke steering wheel and the centre console. The pedals are also finished in a sporty silver/black theme. When it comes to the level of convenience features, the Hyundai i30 Fastback has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with steering mounted audio and phone controls. This infotainment unit supports Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Automatic climate control is also a part of the package.
Powering the Hyundai i30 Fastback, which makes things interesting are a set of GDi (Gasoline Direct Injection) petrol engine options, a 1.4-litre unit that generates 138 hp of power and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is also offered. In addition to this engine, Hyundai is also offered a 1.0-litre motor which produces 118 hp and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel engines, that will be introduced later will be a 1.6-litre unit in two states of tune, 108 hp and 137 hp.
