Renault had revealed the Kaptur (Captur) at the 2017 Geneva Motor show earlier and the company is now preparing for the India launch around the festive season. Off late, there have been multiple sightings of the car undergoing final testing and now there is another new image of the car from Powerdrift. The new spy image suggests that the Kaptur( Captur) will gets projector headlamps with C-shaped LED DRL's and a larger grille.
Based on the Duster MO platform, it will powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine and 1.5 diesel engine. The 1.6 litre petrol engine produces 103 hp of power and 148 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 diesel engine churns out power in two states of tunes – 85hp and 110 hp. The upcoming crossover will get AWD (All Wheel Drive) with locking centre differential and will be mated to a 6 speed manual and automatic transmission.
The Kaptur will get a host of features such as touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. In addition, the Kaptur will get front and rear parking sensors, reverse parking camera and alloy wheels, depending on the variants. In terms of safety, the SUV will get ABS and dual airbags as standard offering across the range.
The Kaptur measures 4,333mm in length, 1,813mm in width, 1,613mm in height and will have a 2,674mm wheelbase. The crossover will be positioned above the Duster in the company's product line up and will be manufactured at Renault's facility near Chennai. The Kaptur is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, which presently is the top seller in this category. Taking on the Creta will be a tough task for the Kaptur but it seems to have the right firepower for the battle. We'll keep you updated on the details of the car as they get revealed.
