The only car that will remain unaffected due to the price rise is the Honda WR-V

Honda Cars India recently entered the compact SUV space with the launch of the WR-V. Based on the Jazz's platform as well as powertrains, the company witnessed bookings of 2,500 units within the first week itself. However, now the Japanese carmaker has announced a price rise throughout its model range, barring the WR-V, by Rs 10,000. The reason that the company states is the rise in freight charges and input cost of raw materials.

At the price hike, Jnaneshwar per, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India said, “Due to the rise in freight charges and input costs, we are forced to consider increasing the car prices for most of our models. This increase in price will be effective from the first week of April 2017.” Honda currently sells the Brio, Jazz, Amaze, Mobilio WR-V, City BR-V, CR-V and the Accord Hybrid in India. Before the WR-V, the company's latest offering the Honda City also received an impressive response. The executive sedan has been booked by 14,000 potential customers out of which 40 percent bookings are of the ZX variant.

Powered by a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel, the Honda City, in its fourth generation facelift has undergone many cosmetic changes. The ZX variant, which has a price tag of Rs 13.57 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, is offered with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and revised bumper design on the outside. The interior is where most of the changes have taken place which includes the company's patented DIGIPAD infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. In addition to the infotainment system, the sedan also has an HDMI port and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A user can also browse through the internet while on the move with this infotainment system. With the price rise, the ZX variant of the Honda City will now cost Rs 13.67 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
