The most common problem of a buyer in the used vehicle market is the uncertainty that revolves around the prices he can expect for their vehicle or for a vehicle they intend to buy. For buying a used vehicle, consumers search for company or private multi-brand dealerships or at various online portals to these days. Such portals offer a wide range of vehicle choices and related information at the click of a button. Despite all this the Indian used vehicle market is largely unorganised and is controlled by small sellers and dealers who operate independently.

Naturally, the market rate of most vehicles is defined by these group of small operators, which at times is more than usual for the buyer and less than normal for the seller. However, with increasing popularity of internet among car buyers for gathering information, many companies have started offering an expected valuation for various vehicles. In addition, these companies also facilitate buying/ selling of vehicles through their digital portals, making the process easier for the consumer. Droom is one such company and they recently released their online trend report, which is the basis of the data used in this story.

The figures suggest there is a decrease in prices of used bike segment in 2016 as compared to 2015, while in the used car segment there was a minor increase in prices in 2016.
