Volkswagen is set to showcase the potential of its I.D. range of models at the Geneva International Motor Show this year. The centre of attraction in the I.D. range will be the I.D. Vizzion, which will have an all-electric powertrain and will feature ‘automatic driving control’. What makes this concept really intriguing is the absence of a steering wheel or any visible controls. Volkswagen is planning an electric vehicle (electric vehicle) campaign, under which it will introduce a total of 20 new EVs by the year 2025. The campaign is the largest and the most innovative in the German manufacturer’s history and is now entering its next phase.

Volkswagen I.D. Vizzion is the fourth product in the I.D. family. It will feature, as Volkswagen says, a ‘digital chauffeur’ with its several assistance systems that assume control.
The I.D. Vizzion will drive, steer and navigate autonomously through traffic, allowing passengers to use their time as they please. There will also be a virtual host, with which passengers can communicate via voice and gesture control. This host will also know the personal preferences of the guests and will adapt to each of them individually.

The 111 kWh lithium-ion batteries mounted on the Volkswagen I.D. Vizzion will allow it a range of about 665 km on one full charge with braking regeneration is considered. It gets two electric motors that optimise electric charge and drive all four wheels. The 5.11 metre long I.D. Vizzion will be capable of speeds up to 180 km/h.
The I.D. Vizzion will serve as a base for Volkswagen’s electric vehicles. Volkswagen I.D. family will be joined by an electric car in the compact class in 2020, followed by a new electric SUV, the I.D. Crozz and the I.D. Buzz which is an electric saloon.
